About Johnson House Bullies

Johnson House Bullies is a husband-and-wife French Bulldog breeding program owned and operated by Shawn and Rusty Johnson. We are based on our nine-acre farm in Medina, Tennessee, just north of Jackson, where our dogs and puppies are part of our daily lives. Our breeding program began in 2017 and has grown into a full-time commitment to breeding, whelping, raising, and caring for French Bulldogs.

We previously produced XL American Bullies as part of the Johnson House Bullies program. Today, however, our breeding program is focused entirely on French Bulldogs. We believe responsible breeding starts long before a litter is born, with careful planning, knowledge of our dogs, an understanding of genetics, and continued involvement through pregnancy, delivery, neonatal care, puppy development, and placement.

Our Story

From Louisiana to Our French Bulldog Farm in Tennessee

Before settling in Tennessee, we lived in the New Orleans area north of Lake Pontchartrain. Our move to West Tennessee gave us the space to build the type of French Bulldog program we wanted and to keep our dogs, mothers, and puppies close to us throughout the breeding and whelping process.

Today, Johnson House Bullies operates from a nine-acre property in Medina, near Jackson, Tennessee. Our property includes a two-story, approximately 2,500-square-foot climate-controlled Frenchie barn with heating and air conditioning. Adult French Bulldogs have spacious sleeping areas, while kitchen, laundry, and living spaces allow us to stay close to the dogs throughout the day.

This setup matters because French Bulldog breeding is not something we treat as an occasional activity. Shawn and Rusty are full-time whelpers, and newborn puppies require close observation, routine care, and a great deal of time and attention.

Our Breeding Program

A Hands-On French Bulldog Breeding Program

Our French Bulldog puppies are raised within our own breeding and whelping program. We stay involved from the planning of each breeding through pregnancy, delivery, puppy development, and placement with a new family. Keeping our mothers and puppies close helps us monitor their needs and respond quickly when something changes.

We also believe families should have opportunities to see how their puppy is developing. Johnson House Bullies regularly shares puppy photos and videos through Instagram and Facebook, and families can also arrange FaceTime or video calls before bringing a puppy home. These updates give future owners a closer look at their puppy, current litters, planned breedings, and everyday life with our Frenchies.

Health & Genetics

Health Testing Is Part of Our Breeding Decisions

Health testing is an important part of our French Bulldog breeding program. We use health-tested studs and dams when planning litters, while temperament and structure also factor into our breeding decisions. Color can be part of a breeding plan, but it is not the only consideration.

Johnson House Bullies also uses genetic testing to better understand hereditary traits and conditions that may affect French Bulldogs. Cheek swabs from breeding dogs are submitted for genetic analysis, and our French Bulldog health information discusses conditions including CMR1, DM, HUU, and JHC.

Understanding DNA also helps us plan expected colors, coat traits, and other genetic possibilities more accurately. You can learn more about our French Bulldog health and genetic testing on our genetic disorders information page.

Our breeding decisions consider health testing, genetics, temperament, structure, pedigree, and the traits of both the sire and dam.

Colors & Coat Genetics

French Bulldogs in a Variety of Colors and Coat Types

Johnson House Bullies works with several French Bulldog colors, patterns, and coat traits. Our program has included Frenchies in lilac and tan, blue and tan, chocolate and tan, black and tan, Isabella, new shade Isabella, platinum, cream, merle, trindle, and fluffy-related genetics.

Individual colors and coat traits depend on the sire and dam used for each breeding. We do not expect every breeding to produce every color. Instead, our planned litter information explains what a particular pairing may produce based on the parents and available DNA information.

Families looking for a certain sex, color, coat, or genetic combination can review our upcoming French Bulldog litters for current breeding plans.

Finding the Right Frenchie

Choosing a Johnson House Bullies Frenchie

Finding the right French Bulldog involves more than choosing the first puppy available. Some families are looking for a particular sex, temperament, color, or coat. Breeders may also need to consider pedigree, structure, DNA, genetic traits, and registration rights.

We encourage people to ask questions and learn about the parents, litter, and puppy before making a decision. Current puppies can be viewed on our Available Frenchie Puppies page, while our Upcoming Frenchie Litters page can help families see what may be coming next.

Johnson House Bullies French Bulldog puppy pricing generally begins around $2,000. Individual pricing can vary based on the puppy, litter, DNA, color, and stud used. Additional details are available through our puppy and deposit information.

Our Name & History

More Than the Name Johnson House Bullies

People occasionally see our name and wonder whether Johnson House Bullies still breeds American Bullies. American Bullies were part of our history and helped shape the Johnson House Bullies name, but our breeding program has since shifted its focus entirely to French Bulldogs.

Today, our males, females, planned litters, puppy program, and breeding work center on Frenchies. The Johnson House Bullies name remains because it represents the program Shawn and Rusty have built since 2017.

Meet the Breeders

A Tennessee French Bulldog Breeder Families Can Get to Know

Many people begin their search for a French Bulldog puppy online, which can make it difficult to know who is actually behind a website, social media account, or puppy listing. We want people considering a Johnson House Bullies Frenchie to know who they are dealing with.

Shawn and Rusty are accessible by phone, text, email, social media, and video chat. Our website provides information about our dogs, planned litters, past productions, health testing, genetics, puppy policies, pricing, and care. Our social media also allows families to watch puppies grow rather than seeing only a few photos at the time of purchase.

Whether someone finds us while searching for a Tennessee French Bulldog breeder, a Frenchie breeder near Jackson, TN, or a French Bulldog breeder in Medina, our goal remains the same: to give families accurate information and a clear understanding of our breeding program before they choose a puppy.
